Pursuant to Chapter 174, Wis. Stats., Chapter 12, Lincoln County Ordinances, every owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay his dog license tax and obtain a license therefore. No such license shall be applied for without compliance with the rabies control section of County Ordinances Penalty: Upon citation for unlicensed dog shall be a forfeiture of $100.00.

Dogs Must Be Vaccinated Against Rabies: The vaccination must be administered by a veterinarian. It must be done within 30 days after the dog reaches the age of 4 months and revaccinated within one year after initial vaccination. After that, the dog must be vaccinated within 3 years. Other County Ordinances Penalties: Other County ordinance penalties exist for dog napping, failure to have dog vaccinated, abandonment, dogs running at large, and failure to provide proper food and shelter: first offense $5.00 to $500.00, plus court costs.
