The Board of Directors of the Lincoln County Humane Society hohlds monthly meetings, open to the public, on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at 5:00 PM in the basement conference room at the Merrill City Hall.

Get ready for our 4th annual community rummage sale at the Merrill National Guard Armory on May 1, 2010! Donations can be dropped of the day before the sale on April 30.

Please- NO CLOTHING OR SHOES this year. We just sipmly don't have the man power to handle these items. Thanks for understanding.

We are also planning a bake sale and brat fry the day of the sale, so we're welcoming donated home baked treats for humans and pets for our bake sale! Yummy!

Pastor Scott of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ will be hosting a Blessing of the Pets. This will be held on June 6th, 2010 at Street Square Park in Merrill. 

The custom of Blessing the Animals is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures. Francis wrote a Canticle of the Creatures, an ode to God's living things. "All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures."

For single householders, a pet can be a true companion. Many people arrive home from work to find a furry friend overjoyed at their return. Many a senior has a lap filled with a purring fellow creature.

The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. No wonder people enjoy the opportunity to take their animal companions to church for a special blessing. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated.

All people and their pets are invited to attend. Dogs and cats must be on leashes and other animals must be restrained. Animals coming to visit must be vaccinated for rabies. Please contact Pastor Scott at (715) 536-7322 for more information.

Mark your calendars for the 3rd annual Lincoln Lager Barletyfest presented by the City of Merrill Parks and Recreation Department! It is scheduled for October 2, 2010, and once again the committee has generously chosen the LCHS as one of the recipients of the proceeds from this great event!

Last year's event was a great success, with over 350 participants and 34 breweries from around the state and the country. The Lincoln County Humane Society received $1,000 from the proceeds, and we are grateful to be chosen as a beneficiary of this year's event as well!
