The Lincoln County Humane Society is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty and abuse to animals, birds and wildlife.

We strive to maintain a No-Kill facility; a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals; a temporary home for the homeless; a haven for the mistreated, neglected or abused animals of Lincoln County and surrounding counties.

Coronavirus Updates

LCHS is modifying some of our policies due to the exposure risks of Coronavirus. Please work with us to keep each other & the community safe!

First and foremost, please honor the social distancing requirement of 6 feet from our staff.

Secondly, all adoptions, redemptions, incoming strays or surrenders must have an appointment in advance. Please call us at 715-536-3459 to set an appointment time. You must arrive on time or you may have call from your vehicle and wait for an opening.

Masks are required while in the building. If you cannot wear a mask due to health reasons, please call LCHS to arrange for an outdoor setting.

Incoming Stray Animals:

1. Please call in advance when you find a stray animal in Lincoln County 715-536-3459 - if you cannot reach LCHS staff, please call the non-emergency line of the Sheriff's Department at 715-536-6272

2. Please call LCHS when you arrive at the building with the stray animal, we will unlock the "Intake Door" for you

3. You will be asked to complete the intake paperwork and put the cat/dog into the appropriate kennel near the "Intake Door"

Incoming Surrender Animals:

1. Please call in advance 715-536-3459 to set an appointment or there is no guarantee staff will be available when you arrive.

2. Please call LCHS when you arrive at the building, we will have the forms outside for you to complete

3. After completing the surrender forms, the "Intake Door" will be unlocked for you to come in and put the cat/dog into the appropriate kennel

Reclaming Stray Animals:

1. Please call in advance to file a lost report or to confirm if you pet has been brought to LCHS 715-536-3459

2. If you are reclaiming a dog and do not have verification of rabies vaccine, county license, and identification tag with a phone number, you are asked to pay with credit card over the phone, arrive with a pre-written check in the exact amount, or arrive with exact change for the payment. You will also have to provide the dog license info and identification tag info in advance over the phone so LCHS staff can have these items prepared for you.

Reclaimed cats are not requried to be licensed but if you need to purchase a pre-pay for a rabies vaccine, you are asked to pay with credit card over the phone, arrive with a pre-written check in the exact amount, or arrive with exact change for the payment.

3. Please call when you arrive and LCHS staff will unlock the "Intake Door" for you. You will complete any paperwork and leave the payment. Your cat will be kenneled on arrival (the kennel can be returned at a later date at no charge) or your dog will be in an intake kennel for you to leash and take home. Please bring your own leash.

1. Please submit the adoption application in advance. If you are unable to access it on our website, give us a call and we can mail a paper copy to you or email you a different format.

2. Adoptions are set by appointment. At this time, only one adult can come to complete the paperwork for the adoption. If you are interested in adopting a dog and have children or other dogs in the home, please call us to arrange for a modified introduction of the dogs and/or children.

3. Due to a shortage of surgery options, LCHS may be requiring an additional $100 deposit if an animal cannot be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. This money will be in addition to the normal adoption fee but will be refunded once the animal is returned to LCHS for surgery.

1. LCHS will have a red plastic drop box off outside our front door for non-monetary donations. We are always in need of Purina Dog/Cat/Kitten Chow, non-scoopable litter, laundry detergent, cat/dog toys, and catnip.

We would like to thank everyone for your understanding and patience! We know this is a difficult time for everyone and we want to assure you that the animals of LCHS are still well cared for. We are grateful for the continued support of our amazing community! Stay safe!
